Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive, cosmetic dental procedure that helps remove stains and discoloration on the teeth that are usually caused by pigments contained in various food and drinks, as well as in tobacco. This technique makes the teeth look whiter and brighter.

At The Dental District we use the Zoom Phillips Teeth Whitening, the #1 brand worldwide thanks to its effectiveness, capable of lightening your teeth up to 8 shades safely and quickly. Professional in-office teeth whitening is the safest way to achieve a brighter, whiter smile without the risk of damaging your teeth and gums.

Types of Teeth Whitening

In our clinic, we offer two types of professional teeth whitening:

  • In-Office Teeth Whitening:
In this procedure, a special laser light and a concentrated hydrogen peroxide gel are used; together, they manage to effectively lighten the shade of the teeth, disintegrating all the stains and discoloration that may exist.
  • At-Home Teeth Whitening Kit:
At The Dental District, we have the Philips Zoom Nitewhite kit, which includes a custom guard and whitening gel. With this take-home kit, the patient is in control of the treatment, under the instructions and supervision of his dentist.

Before and After

FAQs

How white can my teeth get during

Zoom teeth whitening results may vary from patient to patient. For example, teeth that are more stained or discolored will not whiten to the same degree as teeth that were initially light in color. Taking these into consideration, the Zoom technology can lighten up to 8 shades!

How long does the Zoom Teeth Whitening lasts?

Tooth whitening is not permanent, but it is very long-lasting (from six months to two years). Although tone fading is inevitable, it is possible to slow the process by avoiding certain foods and drinks and quitting smoking.

After in-office teeth whitening, patients can maintain their results by using a professional at-home whitening kit, such as Philips NiteWhite.

Is Zoom Teeth Whitening safe?

Yes. The procedure is performed entirely by certified dentists, who previously do an exhaustive examination on the patient’s mouth to ensure no conditions prevent the treatment from being carried out effectively or compromise the patient’s health.

It is important to mention that these professional whitening products are only available through your dental office.

Am I a candidate for Zoom Teeth Whitening?

Most people are good candidates for this treatment, particularly those with good oral health who want brighter, whiter-looking teeth. However, it is not recommended if there are conditions such as periodontal disease, cavities, or sensitivity; if the patient is pregnant or nursing, or has dental prosthetics that cannot be whitened, such as crowns, veneers, or implants. It is also not recommended for those under 18 years of age.

Does Zoom Teeth Whitening cause sensitivity?

A protective gel is applied before or after the procedure, making 99% of patients experience little or no sensitivity with Philips Zoom. Some patients have experienced a tingling sensation that usually disappears within 24-72 hours. If necessary, the doctor may recommend using a special toothpaste at home after the treatment.
